Guidelines for Posting
Special Libraries Association - Academic Division Listserv Guidelines
1. The listserv is for library-related information only. No solicitations from outside parties will be permitted. If a member violates this policy, the following actions will be taken:
- First offense - e-mail warning from the listserv managers
- Second offense - removal from the listserv
2. Only subscribed users can post messages. Outside parties who solicit on the listserv will be removed from the listserv immediately.
3. Please keep postings within the scope of this list. The listserv managers reserve the right to remove postings and/or listserv members based on the following:
- Unrelated topic/information
- Harmful attachments
- Size of postings
- Offensive or obscene postings
- "Flame wars" (disrespect to a member or group of members, continual "badmouthing," and/or retaliation)
- Number of postings (unrelated)
- Unsolicited commercial postings
4. Please follow listserv etiquette. This includes the following:
- Use a clear descriptive subject line.
- Include a signature tag on all messages.
- Reply only to the intended recipient(s), as opposed to sending responses to the listserv.
- Be courteous to other listserv members (no flame wars, foul language, etc.)
- Avoid attachments, HTML, or other formats that may cause some members to have difficulty reading listserv e-mail. (This is a preference, not a "rule.")
The listserv was created for the members. As always, such items as related articles, job postings, legislative information and the like are encouraged, with the idea that all library information is important.
